As you watch the big fireworks demonstration, notice the monologs about "siezing the oil fields" or "men staffing the oil ports have surrendered but we've yet to win the war."
Watch for the story inside the story. As you read the following, keep in mind that Dick Cheney is still receiving checks from Halliburton even though he had to "legally" divest himself when he declared candidacy in 2000.

Halliburton wins contract on Iraq oil firefighting
Thu March 06, 2003 08:31 PM ET

HOUSTON, March 6 (Reuters) - A Halliburton Co. HAL.N subsidiary Kellogg, Brown & Root (KBR) has won the contract to oversee any firefighting operations at Iraqi oilfields after any U.S.-led invasion, a Defense Department source said on Thursday.
KBR was widely viewed by many in the oilfield services industry as the likely candidate to oversee firefighting in Iraq's oilfields. Halliburton does extensive logistic support work for the U.S. military.

Vice President Dick Cheney served as Halliburton's chief executive officer from 1995 to 2000,

A possible beneficiary of Thursday's deal is oilwell firefighting company Boots & Coots International Well Control Inc., with which Halliburton has had an alliance since 1995.

A Halliburton spokeswoman declined comment and referred all questions to the Defense Department.

As I'm sure you're aware, the unprovoked assault on Iraq has begun. If the bombing continues and there are many breaking news items, The Mike Webb Show will not air. It just makes sense to focus on news coverage in the beginning moments of war. Please tune in, though and we'll keep you posted. I may be on the air tonight. I may not. It will be a moment - by - moment decision in the news department.

I hope my friends commited to the courageous and enlightened Goal of Peace will continue relentlessly expressing their viewsand not to be intimidated by those who feel it's unpatriotic to speak out at this time. It is THE time to speak out. We support out "troops" by opposing a rogue administration that abuses its young citizens by using them for something other than defending our country.

I want to be a dentist, so how could I make that if the war happened? We are a peaceful people. We love peace. We love American people, so why do you want to kill us? Under the threatening of the American government of every day, we live and continue our daily life. We go to school, to work, visiting each other, but still we have the hope of getting over this crisis. God will help us and save our country from this war. If war will arise the coming few days, I might not be able to continue writing my own diary. We don’t know what is going to happen... We might die .. and maybe we are living our last days in life.

I hope that everyone who reads my diary remember me and know that there was an Iraqi girl who had many dreams in her life, but war has destroyed all her dreams and her dreams will never come true.
