It is the soldier who serves beneath the flag, who salutes the flag and
whose coffin is draped in the flag that gives the demonstrators the
right to burn the flag."
You know what I'd like to know? How has "the soldier" done one damn thing during this Iraq conflict to give me freedom of speech, to give the reporter freedom of the press or "demonstrators the right to burn the flag."?
I haven't been "given" one of those things by any of those soldiers. All I've gotten is THREATS that those rights will be compromised or removed by an out-of-control justice department. How about you? (And by the way, according to the Declaration, those rights are "bestowed by the Creator" not any soldier).

Some Thoughts This Weekend:
As I receive various photos of the horrible civilian tragedy resulting from our decimation of Bagdhad (little children with their bodies ripped apart), still, we have to keep our eyes keenly focused on the simple question: Was it ever justified to bi-pass the UN and unilaterally invade a sovereign nation after first making an agreement to follow the process? Of course not.
And, yes, there will be many excuses made about Iraqi liberation (the "dancing in the streets" )and ousting that evil despot, Saddam, ("is he dead?" When did I hear THAT before?)
This weekend, the most recent message from Osama bin Laden keeps haunting me: That eerie warning about the next terrorist attack having "deep psychological impact". After the "Grenade Incident", I thought: What if the plan was to integrate terrorists into our military? How more psychologically discomforting could it be than to know that your nation's forces of defense are infiltrated by the enemy?<That is along the same scale as the commercial airliner attacks in its scope of brilliance and boldness -- and yes -- brutality.
